Print on Demand (POD) is a way to sell prints and products featuring your artwork without having to order, pay for, or store inventory upfront.

Instead of ordering inventory and hoping it sells, products are made only when someone places an order.

Your artwork can be offered as fine art prints, framed prints, cards, apparel, home goods and more. When a customer places an order through your website, it is automatically sent to your POD provider.

They print it, package it and ship it directly to your customer, anywhere in the world.

Many POD providers have production facilities around the world, so orders can be produced closer to your customers. This means lower shipping costs, faster delivery and less long-distance shipping.

And because products are only made when someone buys them, there’s less excess inventory and waste.

Hi, I'm Parisa!

I'm an artist, engineer and the founder of Artistech.

I first started exploring Print on Demand for my own art business because I wanted to be able to sell my work without being tied to one place.

And it worked.

Print on Demand has allowed me to continue selling my artwork while traveling around the world, without carrying inventory, packing orders, or being there to ship anything myself.

I create the artwork once, then I can focus my energy on what I actually want to be doing: creating more art and marketing my work.

The technology takes care of much of what happens in between.

Since then, I've experimented with different POD platforms and helped other artists integrate them into their own websites and online shops.

I created Art Prints, Simplified to share what I've learned and make the technical side a little less overwhelming, so you can build a system that supports your art instead of taking you away from it.

Frequently asked questions

I'm not a digital artist. Will this work for me?

Yes. If you create physical artwork, you'll first need to digitize it through scanning or photography. The guide walks you through what to consider and when professional digitization may make sense.
I'm not very tech-savvy. Is this still for me?

The guide is designed to make the process straightforward and help you understand how the different pieces fit together. You'll also get access to sample tech tutorials. And if you'd rather skip the technical setup entirely, you can add our Print on Demand Strategy + Tech Setup.
I already sell prints. Will this still be useful?

If you're currently selling prints manually or through a third-party marketplace, the guide can help you explore automating fulfillment and selling directly through your own website.
Can I use more than one POD provider?

Yes. You can connect multiple POD providers to your website if, for example, you prefer one provider for fine art prints and another for apparel or other products.
Can I offer limited-edition prints using Print on Demand?

Yes. You can limit the inventory available through your shop and choose higher-quality print and paper options for limited editions.
Do I need Shopify?

No. Many POD providers integrate with Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, WooCommerce and other platforms, so your options will depend on your website and chosen POD provider.

That said, as a Shopify Partner, Artistech specializes in building and integrating Shopify stores for artists, and it’s the platform we recommend most often for artists who want to sell their work online.
Would this work in my country?

Yes! Most POD companies use a global network of printers, so your orders can often be printed close to your customers, regardless of where you live. Not every provider prints in every country, though, so it’s worth checking local availability, shipping costs and potential import fees when choosing your provider.
