About the Client

Tafy LaPlanche is an Afro-Latina portrait artist based in New York City who creates expressive, colourful portraits celebrating individuality and cultural identity.

Her work uses portraiture to tell stories, build connections, and honour the people and communities that inspire her. Across her paintings and collections, Tafy combines saturated colour, cultural references, patterns, and symbolism to create work that feels both personal and socially meaningful.

What Makes This Website Unique

Tafy's creative practice extends far beyond the canvas. Visitors can experience her work in her New York studio, attend live painting sessions, commission custom portraits, and collect original artwork, prints, and gifts.

Our challenge was to make every touchpoint feel connected.

We designed a digital experience that mirrors the energy of her physical space, ensuring visitors feel the same sense of personality and creativity whether they're walking through her studio or browsing from home. The website guides collectors through her collections, invites them to visit the studio, and makes it easy to commission artwork or shop online, all within one cohesive experience.

Rather than treating the website as a separate sales channel, we built it as the digital extension of her artistic world.

Branding

The strongest artist brands don't begin and end with a website, they create one memorable experience across every space where people encounter the work.

The goal wasn't to create a new identity, it was to create consistency.

We carried key elements of Tafy's physical studio into the digital experience, including the signature lush greenery, exposed brick walls, and eclectic décor that make her space instantly recognizable. By weaving these distinctive visual elements throughout the website, we created a cohesive brand experience that seamlessly connects her studio, exhibitions, social media, packaging, and online store.
The result is a brand that feels unmistakably "Le Pouf Art" wherever people encounter it.

Beyond the Website

This project extended beyond web design into business strategy. Together, we developed a print and product strategy that allows Tafy's artwork to reach a wider audience while preserving the value of her original paintings. The Shopify store was structured to support originals, limited-edition prints, merchandise, commissions, and future product collections, creating multiple ways for collectors to engage with and support her work.
